HISTORY
The
LAMU Library was opened with two metal trunks of books donated by WHO. The
library was established in a classroom; within a short time the opposite
classroom was opened as an IT Lab which was controlled by the library. With the
exponential growth of the University, two classrooms were converted as reading
rooms, which were supervised by the Library staff.
However, these eventually became overcrowded
and overused. Due to the high demand for Medical Education, there was a need to
build a new large Library; the project was worked on quickly and the main
Chalala Library was opened in 2016. LAMU now has five libraries at all of its 5 campuses; Pharmacy, Nutrition and Dietetics, Chalala Main, Medicine and Surgery, Health Sciences and Radiograpy.
